It may be the over-indulgence of chocolate over the last week. Or more likely the major feelings of guilt for missing writing a post on this theme. It won’t be great. It won’t be long. Perhaps I should let sleeping dogs lie, and not flog dead horses. However, I feel it necessary to right this terrible wrong and honour an individual that I think is awesome and explain why.
For the non-Australians amongst you I apologise, as this is a man you have most likely never heard of. Hence the over-abundance of youtube clips to introduce you to the awesomeness of Dean Hutton.
I used to race home after school on a Thursday afternoon so that I wouldn’t miss The Curiosity Show (The link is well worth a read!), hosted by Dean Hutton and another equally awesome guy, Rob Morrison.
OK, very nerdy and it hasn’t aged well, but these guys- especially Dean- were pure awesomeness to me as a kid. They made science, the world, and my childhood wonderful. Awesome then, and they still are.
And finally, for those rare lovers of all things Hovercraft, a special treat:
It’s surprising that hoovercrafts didn’t make it here earlier
Sounds like 80s(?) tv-show gold.
Dude, this show looks awesome! It’s a shame there isn’t more of this simple, but intelligent, stuff around these days. Now, if it’s not fast, full of graphics, and overfull of scene changes, it doesn’t air. I would love to have my kids watching this.
70′s to 80′s, when things were certainly slower paced… they even spent a good ten minutes in one episode showing you how to make your OWN hovercraft out of a styrofoam cup and meat tray, a couple of icy-pole sticks, an electric motor, some AA batteries, and a few other odds and ends! It worked a treat!
And sity for the slow reaction to your comments; the notifications somehow ended up in my spam box!
